About the event

Let's play basketball - to be effective in-game and life decision-makers.

You don’t need to be good at basketball. We show you how to switch off the routine - to use micro-routines - to weave a spontaneous flow of actions to get around each other. These are the moments that lead to surprising discoveries. Wow moments.

About us

The  world naturally caters to the way most people think. Growing up, I  realized my way of thinking differed sufficiently from the majority -  that I struggled to perform routines others found easy. Since I couldn't  alter the world to suit my needs at the expense of others, I decided to  switch off the routine to see what else could be done. Recognizing my  children also struggled with routines not tailored to their thinking, I  applied the skills I had developed to guide and support them. In a world  where traditional routines are becoming less effective, my children and  I established SkillsofWow.org - The governing body for effective in-game decision-makers.

Our "Be kind" rule

Our  aim is to equip everyone with the necessary skills to handle situations  when things don't go as expected. We intentionally disrupt players  current routines. We don’t let players use any athletic dominance to  push their routines through people in the way. Upholding our "be kind"  rule is crucial to maintaining order. Practically, this means engaging  in competition and cooperation by weaving micro routines to navigate  around each other. Providing those with fewer athletic and technical  abilities more space and time to execute their micro routines.

The entrance is on Upper Lattimore Road.

What players and parents think

We went to the most amazing basketball session in  Hemel at Longdean school. My son is autistic and has ADHD he struggles  to follow instruction and is extremely demand avoidant. This session  took all the barriers away for my son and he had the most amazing time,  his words “I loved it”. Well worth checking out

A young player - "I like Jon’s sessions because instead of telling us what to do we all just work it out ourselves"

A parent - "It’s refreshing to see someone run a sports session with a focus on kindness and flexibility instead of adherence to set patterns based on traditional ways of learning. We have always been made to feel welcome and encouraged to participate and my children gain confidence by being part of something that requires teamwork. As an observer, I enjoy seeing the players thinking about not just themselves but the whole team. It’s not about just playing ball, it’s about creative thinking, consideration of others and teamwork"
